Hi there all you Skoda fanatics... HELP.........

I am really keen to get a Skoda 1.9 Diesel Estate, will have to be used, maybe 02 or 03. I really need to know what the bhp is on this models and whether it will pull a medium sized caravan???

A diesel Octavia Estate of that vintage can be had with a 68bhp non-turbocharged engine or with 90, 110 or 130bhp turbocharged ones. The maximum braked towing weight is 850kg for the 68bhp engine and 1300kg for the other three. I would opt for the 110bhp or 130bhp versions for towing - the latter being a particularly good engine. I have an Octavia 1.8T 4X4 Estate and rate it very highly.

i've got a late 01 ambiente (90bhp) estate and have used it to tow a race car and trailer quite a bit with no problems at all.

i seem to recall the octavia estate won caravan magazines (or some similar organisation) used tow car of the year a couple of times as well.
