Fabia vrs oil and filter change-how?

Featured Replies

How easy is it to change the oil and filter on the vrs. I'm asking cus I want to change them every 5000 mile. I cant even see where the oil filter is:confused:

The oil filter is at the front of the engine, and points upwards. and is underneath a cap. Madness it is. :p Having never changed the oil on mine, I wonder wether the undertray needs removing to get at the sump plug (if indeed it has an undertray)

The oil filter is in a housing in between the front of the engine and the radiator. The sump plug can be reached with the under tray removed.

It's gonna be an expensive hobby though mate. No need really as the oil is designed to last for the 10k and you must only use approved oil.

I guess that answers my question then! :D

if you do decide to do it yourself, you need a 36mm socket iirc to undo the cap on the oil filter housing. and obviously a 19mm ring spanner to undo the sump plug.

Thanks lads

Call me old fashioned, call me boring, but I reckon that warming the oil up and then pulling out the sump plug does a more thorough job!

Most dealers just suck it out...

I agree, most dealers just suck.

There's a better chance of evacuating most of the grunt from the sump simply by pulling the plug.

Where do you suck from? Seriously.

Right you suck from:) from the bottom of the sump via a tube.

I never suck cold oil:) let it warm up first.

Used for interium oil changes between services.

No dealer I have ever worked at has.

If you examine your sevice receipt and find a "sump plug", or "plug", p/n N90813210 at £0.95 each, then you know that the dealer drained the sump and replaced the sump plug. If there is no "plug" itemised, then the dealer must have sucked the oil out because he had no reason to replace, or bill you for, the plug.
