New wheels for the estate

Featured Replies

How do chaps. Currently got the standard 14" alloys on my estate with 185/60/14 tyres. I knew straight away I wanted to change these and it looks like I might be getting the wheels I want sooner than I thought! The new wheels in question are 7.5x16 ET30 and at the moment they have 205/55/16s on which are huge! I've noticed the VRS uses 205/45/16s but I was thinking of maybe using 195/45/16s instead. Not only is this size cheaper but it is a closer approximation to my current rolling radius. I'm just slightly concerned about how much of a stretch this is going to be. On the polo forum we have people stretching 175/50s over 8s so I'm guessing 195/45s over a similar wheel size isnt going to be much of a problem. I was just wondering what the rest of you might think?

Cheers

Gaz.

205/45 16 should be the same as your current rolling radius. I have 195's on a 7 inch rim and they are stretching slightly.

Yeah I knew that thats what you had over your 7s which is what had me concerned. On the tyre size calc the 195s are a closer match than the 205s, but then again it doesnt always tally with the real world. What make tyres are yours?

Cheers

Yoko A537's, I wouldnt recomend them...lol

537s? As opposed to 539s? Alot of the polo boys swear by em on their g40s and what not, I was thinking of going for something along the lines of uniroyal rainsports myself. (can get them in either size but its

I meant 539's ;)

They are good in the dry, bad in the wet.
