Anyone used ISO-fix

Featured Replies

I have received a Maxi-cosi cabrio for the car, tested with the belt but I've also purchased the isofix base.

Has anyone here actually used an iso fix on the Fabia?

Cheers

Not used it on a Fabia, but I've used it on an A3 and my Bora. Great idea, far better than faffing around with seatbelts.

If you've got it use it.

Found it a bit annoying that iso fix seats were so much more expensive than normal child car seats.

I can't really believe a child gets any better protection, its just a convenience thing.

It totally eliminates the possibility of fitting a seat incorrectly, therefore making an isofix secured seat safe at all times. That's worth

I looked at ISOfix seats, but decided to try a significantly cheaper belt-only one. I followed the instructions I got it to secure it and then tried to pull it from all angles with my weight behind it and it wouldn't budge at all :D

Anyone have any stats on how many belt-fitted seats aren't fitted correctly? Suspect it's pretty high!

PArticularly the child carrier type seats, as they get put in and taken out all the time. The SAAB doesn't have ISOFIX (Can't think why, 4 loops of steel, 8 welds, come on Saab!) and fitting my daughters baby carrier was a real ballache, particularly when the weater was grim, as I refused to go until I was 100% satisfied that I'd done it right.

Her new seat is non isofix (Cos we've still got the SAAB) and it takes a good 10 minutes to swap the seat from one car to the other properly.

When we have the next sprog, the SAAB is going in return for something which makes life easier and safer.

Octy vrs estate perhaps...

Scoobychris - have a peek at this.

That article is shocking! FWIW, when we researched our seats, we always used Mothercare to try them out and all the seats were fitted quickly and competently.
