Portable Sat Nav

Featured Replies

I am looking to get the following into my Octavia

1. Sat Nav

2. Handsfree Car Kit

I have seen devices like TomTom Go 710, Garmin Nuvi 310 which provide both functionality in one device.

If i went and got one of these devices I probably wouldn't use it all the time, as for security I would have to remove it and replace it everytime I left the car unattended.

I have looked at the MFD2 for Nav, but I dont think it is going to be as good as a portable device like TomTom.

Question: Has anyone got something similar that they have managed to permanantly fix and hide.

Was thinking of removing the Ashtray and hiding in there somehow ?

Hi, I use my Axim and just unclip it and put it in the little box by my left knee, problem is to use it the antenna must be able to see the sky, you could get a bluetooth antenna and then you can have the display anywhere.

OK, here is what I have got in my Superb, but would be similar for the Octavia.

I got a combined phone and PDA running on PPC2003 - mine is an Ipaq, which I bought without a contract, but you can get similar PDAs (not the Ipaq) free, or very cheap as an upgrade if you have a mobile contract - my son got one. I then got a Parrot CK3300 combined bluetooth sat nav receiver and phone kit - when I last looked they were down to about

My Motorola Mobile Phone has Sat Nav, Co-Pilot, UK and Eruope, Post code/address with street level Maps...................And it works.......Free on a 12 month contract with BT Mobile

I was lucky enough to find a Clarion sat/nav on ebay for £300. Built-in. Easy to fit/wire in. Had to drop the radio to a lower space otherwise the sat/nav screen, when opened, was in conflict with the gear shift lever! I have a Samsung D500 phone. Halfords do a bluetooth adaptor (and fit it) for £26. Works fine (audio through the radio, and mic attached above the driver's door pillar).
