Air filter rmoval

Featured Replies

Can someone with either an Octy 2 vRS or any other 2.0T engined car tell me how to change the air filter on this car please??

It is not for me, its for a friend who has a Golf GTi Mk5 and has just aquired a pipercross filter for it but he doesn't know where to start with changing it over.

cheers:thumbup:

Gotta take off the engine cover and it's built in Rob. I posted a link for engine cover removal how too a little while ago.

Hope its going to a good home mate :D

Basically its inside the engine cover. Disconnect the maf sensor and unclip the in and out hose to the engine cover.

To get the cover off you have to pull REALLY hard. Stupidly hard! it won't break!

Then unscrew the cover apart and you will find an air filter :)

Thanks for the info everyone, will let you know once he has managed to do it.

I realise it may be slightly different but my mate is having trouble with his Gti and fitting the pipercross filter.

He has removed the engine cover succesfully, he says that there is a heat shield of some sort which he removed too. Then he says there are about eight normal screws and a row of about ten clips?????

does he need to remove the clips too or is it just the eight screws??

also does he need to remove the heat shield???

I would tell him to come on here himself but he is the most computer illiterate person in the world:rofl:

thanks again:thumbup:

Thanks again

I will tell him to get his finger out and get on with it:rolleyes:
