Additional ground clearance for Octavia Combi 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

How are you today?

I would like to ask you more about additional lifting of the Octavia I Combi 4x4 above the ground. I

Oh come on guys. I don

Someone else has asked this question before - However as I dont want to raise our Octavia I dont remember what he did.

He lives in India where the roads are pretty poor.

I think the 4x4 achieves it's additional ground clearance using different springs not inserts. You could fit the front springs from a 4x4 to a FWD but not the rear springs as they're totally different.

Can you extend adjustable kits (KW's ?) to above the standard ride ehight ?

I doubt it.

I know on the H&R's I've ordered that maximum recommended height is 20mm lower than standard.

....just checked KW, maximum recommended height is 35mm lower than standard.

I would prefix this post by mentioning that I am the most useless mechanic in the world, however as I had a few minutes at work I had a look on the web, I found this site in the states that might give you some ideas businesscantwait.com - All Business

did a lot of seraching and ended up with this site Car Bibles : The Car Suspension Bible that seems to be an excellent resource for suspension information. Good luck

Thanks a lot for the answers.

And I

Dont worry about asking it again - because no one had an answer that time either!

Ok

If I find something interesting on the topic, I

May be a daft suggestion, have you talked to Skoda? I notice that the upcoming Scout has an additional 25mm of clearance, don't know if the suspension off that would be an option?

Also, don't know how an Audi AllRoad differs in ride height or configuration. Or a Toerag ;) for that matter......

Any VW dealer types / techies shed any light on the suspension config of them?

Well I

I'm totally confused. Have you got a 4x4 and want to raise it even more or have you got a fwd octavia and want to raise it to 4x4 levels?

There shouldn't be any inserts in the springs AFAIK, are you sure these aren't the transit blocks?

He has a 4x4 and wants it even higher.

Different market may have a different config Eddy.

Didn't VW do a high rise Polo for other markets?

Could you make up longer inserts?

Sorry, being random now....

High rise polo was sold here too, called the polo dune and had very nice BBS wheels.

I dont think he'll find any other VAG suspension that will fit. He'll nee dlonger dampers etc. too, dont forget.

I

Have you consided the metal sump/transmission guard for extra peace of mind ? You can get one from a dealer but they're not very easy to fit yourself as you have to add nut inserts to the chassis rails etc. It costs about £250+
