ATI Crossfire

Featured Replies

Im thinking of building a new PC seeing as my shuttle now feels a bit limmited and is only a play computer now we are using a laptop for t'internet etc

ive got a ATI saphire X1800GTO

and i might be able to get another one off a freind and instal a crosfire setup on a new board

Mabie an AMD duel core type setup

has anybody got a crosfire setup

as its somthing i havend looked into much so far

IIRC for cross fire don't you need a single crossfire 'master card' then any other card as a slave?

Crossfire requires Master & Slave cards. You cant run crossfire with 2 masters or 2 slaves so you'll need to check the specs

I used to be a big ATI fan but am now in the Nvidia camp, I set up a crossfire system for a relative and found it to be a little less reliable than the equivalent Nvidia setup with SLI.

You could look at a 7950GX2 from Nvidia which is an SLI car on one board, I am using "these" and they are bloomin awesome. Another possibilty would be a pair of 7800GT's in SLI mode.

I am not bashing ATI, but the mainboards for SLI seemed to offer more solid performance and the Nvidia image quality is now up there with ATI imho
