vibration pulling away

Featured Replies

Bought a nearly new Octavia 1.9 tdi elegance. Seemed great when I took it for a test drive. Picked it up a few days later and now I notice a vibration when pulling away in 1st gear from rest. Seems worse fully loaded (4 people). OK its an 8 valve and I was used to a fabia vrs but i've driven 8 valve skoda diesels before and didn't notice the vibration. Anyone know if this is normal?

You say nearly new, but you don't say the milage, but as an example, my new Octavia (1.9PD) was very juddery pulling away initially, but all trace of it has gone after 2K miles. It needed no intervention, however, it just went away after initial use.

I have a friend who is out of the country for long periods of time (3 months) and his Octavia II is very 'juddery' for the first few 'pull aways' when he get back into it. Could it be that the car has not seen much use for a week or so, and it just needs using again?

thanks for the reply

the car has done 1800 miles and the judder seems to vary. Moving forward in a queue on the motoway on staurday was quite bad but later in the day seemed ok at junctions and traffic lights. Today it seems quite bad again

I had a corsa that done that very thing, but only when the car was lying overnight or not been used for a while. reading up on it it is possible for a tiny bit of oil seeping onto the clutch plates. apparently this is not a bad thing. However the judder went away after the engine got up to running temp.

Mine judders too, always has done. BTW, all the VAG 1.9tdi units are 8v engines, including the PD130 unit found in the vRS. :)
