"CD error"

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

my girlfriend has a nissan micra new shape, and on the way home from work she changed CD's and then the CD player came up with "CD error". The players radio still works fine, you can search bands and such forth, but the CD wont eject and if you try to initiate the CD player it comes up with the error message.

any help would be most appreciated

was it a CD with one of those sticky labels on it , this can cause jamming when the label peels , does it try to eject ? can you hear it making a noise as if it was going to eject ? if it is you may be able to poke something through the slot to try and retrieve the cd ,this sometimes works . i've had a few Mazda cd units apart for this fault

when you turn the cd player on, the cd player 'whirrs' round as it normally does. but when you try to eject it/press the eject button the "cd error" message appears on the display and it doesnt make a sound, this is whats got me confused :o

i had a Mazda MX5 in recently at work , similar fault , dismantled the player , got the CD out but i think something in the mechanism had gone faulty , cost about £300+ iirc for just a new CD player

oh my, better break the news gently :P

thanks :)

I'd find out what Nissan do if they have a faulty CD player on a vehicle that is still under warranty , i work at a Ford dealership (also Mazda) and the Ford units can be sent away for repair , Nissan may have the same policy and they can send your unit away , obviously there may/will be a charge involved . funny thing is though ,Mazda don't do repairs on audio equipment , so we have to fit new or exchange parts instead
