radio reception

Featured Replies

Hi,

I can't pick up any radio reception in my fabia, i've tried 2 different radios and tried changing the screw in ariel on the roof but neither has done anything. has anybody else had this trouble?? i presume it might need a new ariel cable, i have phoned skoda just to get an indication of the price and they quoted me about

Is the radioreception totaly missing, or just realy bad?

it has really bad reception and the radio wont pick anything up on the search

are you using a skoda radio or an aftermarket one?

if it is an aftermarket one you will need an additonal ariel amp of that is what I have found in my mum's furby

And if its a skoda one, the aerialamplifier is in the aerialbase, and this can be the part that need replacement. Water penetrating the base has been known to cause this kind of problems. :o

Interesting! When I got my Octavia, the bottom section of the mast itself, the rubber sleeve, was perished to hell and had big lumps missing. I tried taping over it with duct tape but obviously that looked awful! Now replaced with an aftermarket silver alloy jobbie.

Reception was naff both before and after replacement, with the JVC CD/Radio I stuck in. Never tried it with the Skoda Radio/Cass that came with the car, as the garage never supplied the code... (PM me if anyone wants to buy it off me, btw... )

Given that the original mast was damaged, does it sound like water's got into the base and fried whatever electronics is in there, then?

When i bought the car it had the original tape player in it, i replaced this with a sony CD player and the problem has been there with both of them.

When you say i need an aftermarket ariel amplifier, where can i get one? hows it fitted??

I take it the ariel base is in the roof??

The Stream I got as standard on the octy II is rubbish, the CD is ok but the radio is terrible, any one else? Anyone got a fix?

Hi,

I've just bought and fitted a amplified antenna adapter from halfords, part no.pc5-52 and the reception is better but still not perfect

My Stream radio reception was poor at times, alot of static interference.

The MFD2 unit seems much better, haven't actually had any reception problems with it so far.

Might be a duffer.

Speak to your local friendly stealer.

you will need to buy one of these

Autoleads PC5-52

appaently it is a standard issue when replacing vag radios with aftermarket radio's as they have been very sneeky in that the amp is in the radio not the aerial.

Thanks Guys, dont have halfrauds out here but will find the equivalent.
