Hi

We're just in receipt of a year and a half old octy elegance estate (reged 21/5/05). Thing of it is that there's no cd changer in the rear. And the dash mounted one doesnt seem to want to accept cds either.

In the back where the changer should be there's no wires to suggest that one was ever there and has been taken out.

I'm right in thinking that the cd changer comes as standard on all models from Ambience upwards no? Am I doing something wrong with the dashboard cd player?

What are my options on this (and yes we did already pay)....don't ask it's a long story.

Does the stereo unit say "Stream" or "Audience" on it?

If it is an elegance it should have one there if it's a UK car.

It could possibly be an import.

Also, that wouldnt explain why the dashboard cd doesnt work, would it?

If it has the audience stereo it has a 6 disk changer in the dash and none in the boot.

It should work though!

It's not still full of someone elses CDs is it?

Ok then. I dont have the octy manual yet (its coming from the dealers), so how do I operate the cd player? When I press'cd', or the eject button, the display says 'no cd', and when I try to insert a disc I feel a 'spongy' resistance and it doesnt pull it in.

Hmmmmm , on the boot mounted changer you have to press the "Load" button first.

Not sure if there is something similar on the audience HU.

If not it could be faulty.

Problem solved. What a n00b.

Just worked out how to operate the cd changer, which works more than fine.

So feel free to take the p1ss, I deserve it. I feel sorry for the manager at the car storeroom who is currently searching for the stolen cd changer in the boot!

Also, the Audience can play cds that contain MP3's. Just burn them onto a data cd and load into the stereo like a normal cd.
