How much is ur insurance on your fabvrs?

Featured Replies

Not only that the main driver must be that, the main user of the vehicle. If not your claim could be made void by proportional misrepresentation.

On the subject of named drivers!!

If you drive as a named driver on another vehicle and don't have a claim for 5 years, you don't get any benefit, BUT if you have a claim, both you and the Main Driver have to declare a claim when you change policies.

Eg I was a named driver for 1 year on my dad's policy, when i crashed he lost his No Claims protection, when he changed policy - he HAD to declare that his previous policy had paid out! ALSO when i take out my own insurance i HAVE to say that I as a driver have had a claim!!!!!! Bar Stewards!

You had an accident and your father made a claim. As you say, the insurers 'win' both ways. :(
I was also wondering whether it was possible to get NCD for a policy not inyour name as I have been on my Dad's policy over the past year, so would I be able to get 2 years NCB, 1 for my policy, and 1 for being on his?

Yes, it is, providing you have documented proof - I dealt with a Smart specialist insurance company who offered to match my NCD to how long I could prove I had been insured on other vehicles (though I assume they want the documentation so they could check I hadn't actually had an accident).

Kind of a bit like if I'd been driving a company car.

I expect most insurance places won't be interested though.
