Fabia vRS shock upgrade

Featured Replies

Anyone have a source or suggestions for upgrading the Fabia vRS shocks/structs without lowering the suspension? All the kits I see include lowered coils and I don't need or want it any lower.

It would be great to have some adjustment available. Do Koni or Bilstein make suitable replacements?

Leda.

They will make your standard ones adjustable

Had them on my Octavia, I specified tarmac rally valving. They do them in various strengths - fast road, trackday, tarmac rally and full circuit use.

Jolly nice they were too.

Koni FSD dampers can be used with OEM springs :D

Got in contact with leda a few months back about rebuilding my oems. They said they can't they just build their own ones and by the sounds of it convert the front to coilovers as they said I would need new front springs. Got a bit pricey.

All koni shocks are designed for oem springs. The sport ones (yellow) are rebound adjustable. Blistein do make some for the fabia.

What are you looking to improve? Have you considered a Jabbasport rear anti roll bar ;) Well worth it and lot cheaper than replacing the dampers.

Thanks for the info. Leda looks pricey (no doubt worth it to some). Rear antiroll is probably not a priority witht the twist-axle rear suspension we have (YMMV) but I'd love a bigger *front* bar...

But back to rear shocks - the Koni and Bilstein ctatlogs all suggest lowered ride height with their offerings, but then the vRS is already lower than the stock Fabia. So maybe their units do not lower the vRS?

Has anyone replaced rear shocks without springs? With what, how much, from where and is it a good thing?

I'm happy with the stock ride height as any lower and I'll be creeping around over speed humps. The stoclk suspension is pretty good except for roll (which is FRONT biased on my car) and underdamping on the rear, for my car in my use. So priority for me is to stffen up the damping (not the spring rate) on the rear. Thanks!

I not a suspension expert. Perhaps Mr TaviaRS can help.

As for replacing the shocks. Yes Ive had eibach (sachs) dampers fitted with standard springs both front and back. Ride became crashy. Does reduce body roll a touch and increases traction. However for the price of the dameprs plus fitted not worth it IMHO.

Perhaps the koni yellows would be better option but then again on the koni cataloge it does say excludes vRS. I can only assume because of the front weight increase. If you look at the Seat Ibiza on the same catalog. It tells you to increase the front rebound for the PD130. (same part number as fabia)

The Jabba rear ARB helps reduced body roll at the rear (when going at the same speed you would without one). Also makes the car more adjustable using the throttle. Thing is you can push the car a lot more which in turn increases body roll:rolleyes:
