Cretinous and dead flukey

The stupid saga of my rattling door--final episode ?

Took car to VW/Skoda main dealer . Reception mechanic drives car and agrees there is a click-click within the door on every jolt.

Car in for whole day. Went to pick it up. Recep/ mech says " We took the door to pieces and found nothing wrong at all. Workshop Mechanic reckons it is a noise from front suspension"

I said " You agreed this morning that you could hear it and it was clearly from the door"

Recep/Mech says " I've changed my mind because of what the mechanic says "

I reply by saying "Please tell me how hitting the top of the window frame with my palm when the door is open, which causes the noise as I demonstrated to you this morning can cause a noise in the front suspension that comes out of the door?"

Recep/ Mech takes on very stupified facial expression. I put this down to the fact that at that moment he realized he had just accidentally joined the local branch of Dickheads International. So he simply repeats himself.

I tell him I will drive home and if the noise is still there I will be back and next time I will watch the job and check myself what is loose inside the door.

So I get in car and have to change every adjustment on the seat to get comfortable. Then I close the door and--------something -god knows what-- clatters (like a ball bearing in a pin ball machine) inside the door from the top to the bottom. I half expected whatever it was to be on the floor by the car. Foolishly (now I think of it) I did open the door to have a look. Deeerrrr!

While the door was open I used my palm to hit the top of the window frame. This would cause the noise. This time ---nothing.

So I shut the door ---no more pin ball machine noises.

Drove home---no noises at all. Heaven. Total peace at last. But will it last ? My confidence is shaken. As I drive I'm on edge waiting for the damn noise to return.

Is there anywhere on the Internet I can find instructions on how to remove the door inner panel ? Or is there anyone on here who knows what is entailed ? And could explain it to me---please ? Just in case. I'm pessimistic

I wouldn't try it myself, interior trim is normally a right ball ache to get back together squeek free with no broken clips. If the noise has gone away try and get on and enjoy your car!

I hear your pain, I have something which has happened over the last week or so. I reakon its from the Passangers side door, the sound of creaking and something loose. I have found that if you press the door card at the hinge side of the Elec. Window Switch that it disappears, that is when the car is moving and door closed. I have jammed a cloth between the door and the dash to see if it gets rid of it. It seems strange as theres no movement of the door card so must be behind it.

My Superb has an annoying click type sound that comes from somewhere round the front drivers door too, very irritating and I just cant locate it, sometimes I wonder if the chassis is about to split into 2 or something!
