Hi Folks

bought my Skoda Octavia VRS last June & have not stopped smiling yet. Runs like a dream & as most say gives most cars a clean pair of heels. Dissappointed though in how easily paint chips & with squeaky rear brakes on reversing.

Would be interested if anyone else has had a wet passenger rear footwell, I think it may be coming from heating duct below front passenger seat but no drop in coolant level evident. Intend booking it in for a warranty repair however.

Regards BobM

Hello BobM!

Does your VRs have a sun roof? Both my Octavias suffered from leaks from the sunroof drains, both were fixed under warranty. The second time the first I knew was that the rear offside footwell was wet.

It might be worth looking inside the rear doorseal since that was the route of "my" water from roof to footwell.

My dealer was reluctant to believe the source was the roof until I showed him, whereupon he was very helpful.

Good luck any way!

Thanks Stu, do you know what the fix for the brakes is as dealers just tell me skoda are looking into it. As for water leaks mine has no sunroof or rear wash/wipe as its an import purchased new from Motorpoint of Derby.

Even with the few minor niggles I still love it & will more than likely go for the 2.o litre model next in a year or two. Bob M

Yes the paint chips very easily, only got 1500 miles on the furby and at lest 3 stone chips have appeared, and thats with autoglm paint protection for life :finger: On a plus sde they appear to use a yellow undercoat on yellow cars so they don't stick out a mile

A friends Superb is in for rear wet footwells.

Skoda havent'f fully said what it is yet but could be a blockage in the air conditioning or the pollen filter being blocked. Read simular threads on Brisky about Superbs and Octavias.

Should all be covered under warrenty.

If it's whats known as Mooing Rear Brakes then yes there should be a fix. Is it a MK I or MK II?

Thanks for that. Cars in today under warranty & they have found the leak to be caused by a badly fitted blanking plate under passenger side bulkhead. As the Octavia bodyshell is either left or righthand drive the side not used for steering gear entry is sealed with a blanking plate & this was not sealed correctly.

Anyway am driving around in a standard Octavia FSI courtesy car & how different is the performance. BobM
