Chuffed with my new Firby-but it seems to be thirsty and ok I do give it some beans occasionally. But might it be because its a new car?

Don't be flooring a new car just yet. Let it run it a tad bit first....

I found my fuel economy increased as the car ran in, seeming to get better and better, up to about 10k, then it settled down

i agree with the above , don't go screwing it until its run in and the consumption figures will get better the more miles are put on the engine , unless you have a permanantly heavy foot
