Not me.Friend buying for his wife.My mind has gone blank and he is talking to me in riddles.

Wife is a good looking (irrelevant?) 40 year old.Two kids to cart around aged about 10.Short trips really and the usual story.....plaything for him at the weekend:D Second hand of course. Not too old

His shortlist so far? Audii TT 225bhp or Merc ML 4x4:confused:

Two lovely cars, but,a bit different! You get the idea though

My thoughts....nice 330 BMW in black...OLD shape ,not the new dogs dinner.

Any wild cards (am as bad as a woman when it comes to shopping for a car.Looking forward to spending his moolah:) )

Cheers

Focus RS

Mazda RX8 low-power.

Should get a good one easily for £15k, it has 4 seats, handles like a dream and she wont miss the extra oomph of the higher powered version.

EDIT: Its a no-brainer really

Saab or Volvo convertible.

Good for roof-down fun at the weekend , and practical enough for daily use.

£15k gets a nice one.

buy a 2nd Fabia VRS and then spend the change on something worth spending money on rather than a car. say an extension for the house etc.

He has just spent

X5 can be had at that price but will have 60k+ on the clock. You also said he wanted a weekend toy ;) I looked at X5's recently and even at £25k they're leggy - Range Rover is better VFM at this price bracket (but questionable reliability)

Focus RS is very nice and rare. The ST will drink fuel like its going out of fashion and will soon have the Impreza ASBO image as they'll be everywhere and all the ca*v's will want one.

Get him to test drive the convertibles and the RX8. I know someone with 10 and 13 yr old sona who went to the south of France in his RX last year with no trouble.

Petrol X5 's are cheap but they absolutely drink the stuff as do the RX8's

........ as do the RX8's

Ture, they do drink a bit for a 1.3
