Oil all the black plastic rubber parts and edges as far as i'm aware, And use fairy liquid for the green stuff itself.

right i've sprayed the oil on i kinda gave it an overall coating both sides quite lightly i got good overall coveredge can anyone give me any more thoughts on this matter i would be very grateful

If it's anything like the K&N cones, you oil the side that the air will be hitting as it first enters the airbox and put as little possible oil on the other side. Once you have oiled it let it stand for 15 minutes to soak in and then dab the surface with some good kitchen roll :)

so really i should just do the air side and then lightly do the other side not do both like i have

back to the drawing board then ill wash it out again tonite

I think you'll be fine, just make sure you dab off any excess oil. Up to you of course though as it's an entirely at your own risk thing.
