Fabia or Fabia 68Bhp???

Featured Replies

What is the difference between the fabia and the fabia 68Bhp???

I cant tell, i take it one has a bit more power, and what insurance groups are they??

As a Octy owner, have no ideas of the fabia's!!!

Thanks, Chris

I think the Fabia is only 54 bhp...........The wifes silverline is 68 bhp......I understand that the classic's are all 54bhp................No dout I'm wrong..........As always...... Insurance group 2

What model are you looking at? The 1.2 12v has 64bhp whereas the old 1.2 6v had 54bhp. If I am not mistaken the 6v motor in the Classic was nixed in favour of the newer 12v a couple years back. The next engine up would be a 1.4 8v with 68bhp which I'm pretty sure is a Skoda rather than VAG motor and is in older Fabias as well. Pretty sure from some of the threads on here that the 1.2 12v is a more refined and decently powerful motor compared to the 1.4 8v. A while back I drove a 12v and its pretty decent for such a small motor.

The two 1.2's co-exist

1.2 6v 54BHP

1.2 12v 64BHP

Only 1.4's avaliable are 1.4 16v 100BHP and 1.4 16v 75BHP Auto

1.4 8v 68BHP (Skoda Unit) 1999-2003. It's a completley different engine to the 1.4 16v (VW Unit)

Hope this helps!

1.2 12v is now running 70bhp on the sport

is the 1.4 8v 68Bhp (Skoda unit any good, as this is the one i have seen. Just wondering what type of drive it is, and how good it is on say fuel ecomony, etc???

Chris

Plenty of info on here about the 1.4 MPi and the common problems with them.

Not a bad engine by anymeans, but certianly not the best.

It's an ancient OHV design. Poor fuel economy, poor performance and it can become very clattery once it's all loosened up and no one seems to want to touch it's timing chain. It's torquey and smooth with a good power delivery though. Would make a good car for the Mrs or a shopping car maybe

I had one of the first 1.4MPI Classic Fabias in fantasy green from new.

Had excellent fuel economy and was very reliable. Only had trouble with the remote fuel flap...which they done away with and the boot not releasing..but got round that. Insurance was about
