Octy 4x4 haldex not working please help

Featured Replies

Hi I own a Octy 1.8t 4x4.

I recently went camping and discovered that the 4 wheel drive system was not working. When I got home I put my VAG Com reader on it. It has come back with-

1 Fault Found:

00453 - Fuction Limitation due to Over-Temperature

35-00 - -

When I read the readings it was saying it was 112 Deg C and since the car has not mooved all day this is impossible.

I have also had trouble entering th AWD menu, sometimes it states there are too many comunication errors and a few times it just does not pick it up at all. When I have cleared the fault it soon Re-appears without even moving the car

I'm wondering, I have heard of the Haldex ECU having faults before.

Any one got any ideas?

does sound like an ecu fault to me, i'll have a spare standard one soon that you could buy cheap i expect :)

I'll have a look into that fault code for you but yes the control units can be problematic.

One for the dealer I would think.

how old is the car? is it under warrenty?

yes fortunatly its still under warranty, but my wife took it in while i was away and they said they could not find a fault. I suspect they were not looking in AWD section!! boked it in for this Wed. so see what happens.

Thanks for the help.

Whats the uprated ECU's like? are they hard to fit?

Cheers

They can be a right pain to fit so they dont leak yeah.

mines still in my boot, not yet fitted :(

Typical now the ESP light keeps appearing, had the fault 01435 - brake pressure sensor 1 implausible signal and in the AWD 00526 - Brake light switch Implausible signal.

Think the switch might be on the way out or sticking a little.

Just to update this thread. Well got my car back today, the good guys at Caffyns Ashford have replaced the ecu for the haldex. they even did the filter and oil change in there. it has got the modified ecu on now too so i believe that it is supposed to be a much better one.

what do you mean by the modified one? the modified one we are talking about is an ecu thats reacts completely differently to the standard one moving power quicker, more aggresively and moving more to the rear, its a £500 unit that isn't available from skoda.
