DG Short-shifter fit re-visited

Featured Replies

Right, I've had a Dieselgeek Short-Shifter kit for about 6 months now. It's currently residing in a cardboard box in my toolshed. Reason for this is that the Sigma Six model DOESN'T fit the Skoda Fabia vRS.

I got 90% finished with the fit and then noted that the up-down linkage bracket on the fabia (see http://www.dieselgeek.com/images/DCP_3891.JPG ) is NOT in line with the weighed arm on top of the splined bronze shift shaft. It's too far to the right to allow the white nylon crescent to engage the arm on top of the splined shaft..

I thought about shifting the bracket sideways to line it up (to the left as you look at image http://www.dieselgeek.com/images/DCP_4057.JPG.)

Does anyone know if there is a Golf/Audi part that can replace the skoda up-down bracket?

Another more complex solution is modifying the SS arm (the black powder-coated arm in the above image) to shift it sideways to the left by about an inch. This may throw off some of the alignments and is a less appealing possibility.

People on various forums are mad about the DG SS kit, and I want to find a way to adapt it for all Briskodians to fit to our beloved Skoda Fabias if so desired.

Any helpful comments would be most welcome!!!

Cheers

Bas
