Leaks at Pipe joints

Featured Replies

Hi, while doing a general checkup around the engine compartment, I noticed what appears to be oil leaks on the joints of rubber pipes on the right hand side of the engine compartment , the pipes are about 3 inches in diameter and the bottom one looks like its connected to a small rad down low, has anyone any idea what this might be,

Pete:confused:

Turbo pipes, quite normal as when relaxed they do weap a little oil.

Thank Lummox for your speedy reply, I can sleep more easily tonight, is there any point in getting new clips for the pipes or are they supposed to leak in this way,

Pete

They are ok to leak, the pipes dont lock up fully until boost is in the pipe.

Hi again Lummox, would the oil weaps at the joints be a indication of any problem with the turbocharger as I would have thought that there would be only compressed air in the turbo pipes, Pete

No mate.

The crankcase breather system vents into the inlet system. Coupled with EGR this causes a suprising amount of oil in the intake system.
