Up for suggestions on what colour my new bonnet should be sprayed. Its a carbon fibre affair from Germany, and I've been told I will not be able to do the bare carbon fibre look.

The car itself is diamond silver, so what colour do you think I should get it sprayed? I've put up my main thoughts, but others will not be dismissed (instantly ;))

Richard 12 volt - You'll be able to have my bonnet soon I reckon. :D

You could try diamond silver, Failing that.....what about another shade of diamond silver? :D;)

How about carbon...........caaarbonnnn.

Pink all the way :D

What about diamond silver with huge amounts of laquer mixed in so you can still see the weave through the paint? Would look oem until you look closely :)

Silver - what's the point in changing the bonnet?

White - will look very odd.

Black - matt would be best.

Have you considered a nice fairly dark grey?

matt black, then rip out all the interior for that drift slaag look ( the RWD boys wont notice!)

Well - I know the bonnet has to be painted 100%, as the carbon fibre has been patched in places. I've not seen it yet so can only go on comments from the current holder of it. :D The reason? Try 8kg instead of 25 odd.;) And in the important frontal area of the car. :D

I'm liking the dark grey idea. Might need to get some photoshopping done I reckon

I also think this will look as smart as the proverbial!

I think you can get it from the same shop that sells tartan paint.

 Figures. had a colleague ask me today to look up what a "6 9 E R" code was on google.... Guess what I did then.:o Thankfully I didn't click any of the hits.

Have it done in silver, but find a clean peice of carbon and have that masked over to spell vRS (or Mongrel) then once the bonnet is painted silver, unmask and laquer.

Oem look, with subtle bit of carbon showing through

oooooooh, think we might be on to something there. maybe combined with the Skoda Auto badge?

Maybe m8

I built a VTR / Firestorm streetfighter (thats a bike :D ) a couple of years ago and got a carbon kevlar seat unit, then painted it red to match the bike and masked off VTR - V2 on each side.

Some of my mates on the bike forum where having "a sex wee" over it, but I did do an unusually good job of it :-)

This is not a pic of my old one, but it's the same tail peice and where I pinched the idea from to give you a heads up. Carbon / kevlar tail, masked off to show the good bit's painted to hide the bad :D

Hmmm - Reckon I might go old skool (and for easiness :o) and use the old Skoda logo that now makes up the centre bit of the Skoda Auto badge. :)

It would look good Jason imho, let some of the carbon show through

Guess it ultimately depends on the finish of the bonnet itself. I trust the chap who made it as he's totally kitted out a WRC Fabia with a carbon fibre bodykit. (Yellow one about 550 bhp featured on here a little while back)

I should have it with me at the FunkyJ meet up near Brum.

Could only be silver or black really. The stock bonnet does weigh a fair bit. It is not only at the front, but relatively high up as well. I wonder if it will make as much difference as adding 6Kg to the front of the MR2 did? Totally changed the whole balance of the car (for the worse in the case of the '2).

Chris

Cant you just get it clear coated?

If you paint it any other colour than the rest of the car it will look ****, even painted black everyone will think you've had a crash and not had your bonnet painted.

Any logos etc in it will IMO also look pants.

I guess it all depends on the quality of finish in the end though, my only 2 options would be clear laquer if the quality is good enough, or the cars original colour if not.

I'm rather disturbed  (but not surprised :D) at the way lurid pink has taken 2nd place.....

Paint it anything but silver and you'll ruin the unobtrusive, standard OEM look of the front end.

Ahh... bugger.... too late

OK. Which bloody mod has made pink the winner then?:finger::rofl::rofl:
