Auto gearbox & superchip

Featured Replies

As my thread seems to have dissapeared - something to do with the move perhaps - here goes again....

Just ordered a 1.8T octavia with auto box. Am seriously considering one of these APR chip things, supposedly gives me 207bhp. But, am concerned over the long-term reliability of the gearbox, as such as large increase in torque I should think will not please it!

Any thoughts, ideas, experiences etc greatly appreciated.

Also I have read the engines thing, but still am unclear as to what the real difference is between the 150/165bhp and 180/195bhp units really is, it seems perhaps just the computer?

Finally what is the best way to approach ones insurance company about the superchip things. Currently I'm with Direct Line.

Cheers

Jim.

I'm sure I read your post last night but you're right, it's gone!

Do you mean Superchips or APR or 'another'? Either way go to the member list and look up 'KLB', he's got an auto with a Jabba re-map. He's the man to talk to.

With regards to insurance, DL aren't that mod friendly but will still insure you. They charged me an extra
