1.4,14" alloys, highest profile possible?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Ive semi given up on getting bigger alloys to accomodate bigger tyres, instead i was wondering what size tyres i could get away with using 14"s standard alloys. at the moment its got 165/70/r14's i believe (yes, stick thin i know..!). i was hoping on something a little wider like 185 something.. is it advisable?

Thanks in advance! :)

You need to know the width of your rims to know the maximum width tyre they will support. Find the width of the rims, then go and look at the wheel and tyre bible

You could easily use 185/60 14s as fitted to the comfort/ambient model Fabias, or perhaps 195/55 14 (subject to rim width and its a rare size and not made by many tyre companies).

Incidentally, I have just reverted to my original 185/60 14s having got fed up being bounced around on poor road sufaces on 195/45s fitted to vRS 16" wheels. The handling has suffered a bit but not much and the ride is cetainly better.

we need to know the width of the rim...... it should be marked on the inside of the wheel somewhere.... somthing like 5jx14 or similar???
