Another MOD idea for the Octavia.

Featured Replies

I was checking the new 2007 Superb and on the roof head courtesy light, there are 2 red LEDs that turn on when you turn the head lights in order to have a nice subamrine red light inside the cokpit.

Well, maybe you can buy this part separately an dfit it to your Octavia.

Here are some pics.

This is the SUPERB ONE

I dont know if they are the same size but is only matters of take some measurements in order to have a submarine red ilumination:D

What you thing guys?

It's called CatVision (and has been available on the Superb and other VW models for a while) - there was a thread discussing CatVision and the Octy only a week ago.

The general consensus is that apart from fitting your own LEDs, there's no replacement part that can be slotted in.

The superb / passat W8 one fits straight in.... have it fitted in my fabia and our octavia. All that is needed extra to make it work is a single wire fed down to the light switch to pick up 'lights on'.

Very easy mod takes no more than 20mins to fit.

Ah, I didn't know that - thanks.

Richard, Could you do a "How To..........." or has one already been done..????

I thought the light assembley was a different shape on the Octavia 2??

Sure ones already been done if not....

Old light out.

New light in... 4th pin attach wire, route it somehow under headlining down to light switch.

Remove light switch (Push in then turn to 'switch on lights' and it will release) and attach wire to the lights on pin out (trial end error!!)

Done

i'd be supprised if it was..... but then again nothing supprises me... VAG use almost same lights on all their cars. But no doubt they have altered them... god knows why it would cost them more in long run. I'll try and have a mooch in octy II and check

Nice mod - wouldnt mind this on my Octy, complete with torpedo launch buttons on either side:rofl: Is there a periscope that can be carried over from the Superb?

I jumped straight out of my old MkI Octy and straight into my Octy II and the light assembly is exactly the same on both cars.

Does anyone have a part number for the W8/Superb light assembly?

They also appear on ebay from time to time.

I remember some few day ago reading a post on some VW forum wer a guy install also red leds under the glove compartment and under the driver console. This iluminated the leg/feets.

I also remember that the guy was telling that the VW Touareg comes factory with this RED LED under the glove compartment and under the driver console. So thats were he got the idea to install it on his Jetta.

SO, have any of you have seen this on a VW Touareg????
