Glovebox Light

Featured Replies

Ok i give up....... After around 30 mins of fiddling and mild to moderate swearing how the heck do you get to change the bulb in the Glovebox????? :orb_angry

I managed to get the housing from the wall of the glovebox but it only just comes out and i can't seem to twist it round so as to get to the bulb. I can move the little black lever to loosen the bulb but the bloody housing is that tight up against the glovebox wall i can't get hold of or move the bulb!!!!!

Any help From bulb removing guru's would be appreciated. :orb_not_w

Cheers

Dave.

Got those LED's off yourself on the rear numberplate...... Hell of a lot brighter than the one's i had. (Did the cash get to ya ok???).

Also got the interior lights done now too....... I got some 9 LED 501 type for the interior but they actually seem a little TOO bright so i have some 4LED one's, (Wonder why i've got a couple of those lieing around ;) ), in at the mo....... It's just this glovebox thing that's winding me up now.

Glad it's not just me though.

I cant find any LED's that fit the 501 type sockets in the 2 map reading lights. Can you suggest where I get them

The one's i have in at the minute are just the run of the mill 4LED one's that would have gone in my sidelights (I think they were the one's you posted in the 'LED Sidelights' thread that were off ebay???)........ I got the 9LED one's off ebay...... I think i just searched for '9 led 501'.... They are slightly too big as the cover just rests on top of them when put back on. But it isn't noticable..... As i say they light up the inside of the car brilliantly i'm just not too sure if they are TOO bright...... The missus prefers them though so they'll probably be back in by the end of the week!!!!! The centre bulb is just a 9LED 44mm festoon bulb i also got off ebay.

I'll try and find the details for the one's i bought off ebay and let ya know.

Try taking the glovebox out completely, its held in by 6 torx screws, im sure this gives you full access to the bulb.

I might try that eventually....... Anybody know what size the festoon bulb is in the glovebox as i couldn't quite tell...... Just so i can get the bulb ready for tackling taking out the glovebox...... As a last resort etc...

Yep, as I remember, the glovebox has to come out. Easy job though - three along the top edge with it open, then five I think underneath. Take side panel off, disconnect pipe to cool/warm glovebox and the wiring to the light (!) and that's you sorted.

Wish it was as easy on the Ibiza!

It's a mare. I took the bulb out of mine completely as I like to leave my glovebox open so the crackheads can see there isn't anything in there.

You don't have to take the glovebox out - just pry the cover out with a flathead screwdriver and be careful the mechanism doesn't break apart and ping tiny spring-loaded parts everywhere! Then twist it downwards to get the switch lever through the hole.
