Adjusting Xenons

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm finally picking up my vrs tomorrow and had asked that the xenons be set to the maximum legal limit as part of the PDI. (As all my previous xenon equipped cars have been set too low, including the Octy)

Anyway the dealer is saying that Xenons cannot be adjusted! :thumbdwn: Now I know they can from reading on here (and I've had the ones on other cars adjusted), the question is how do I convince or prove to my dealer that they can adjust them!??

Does anyone have a service diagram or something I can point them to? It will save me having to find a dealer which does know how to adjust them! (No others nearby).

I would sincerely hope that it is a service desk guy telling you that and not one of the techies.

Try a search or Ross-Tech, it's a well documented procedure.

I asked for mine setting to the highest mark as well, but driving on an unlit road for the first time a week or so ago I could only see about 15' in front of the car without putting main beam on, not god when travelling at speed. :thumbdwn: Hoping they can be changed at a meet where vag-com is available?:D

It was the service desk guy, however he had checked with the techies (so he said). :(

It's Lightcliffe Hudds in case anyone happens to know a friendly techie who would know how to adjust them! :)

The techie shouldnt struggle, the whole thing is in his Guided Fault Finding on the VAS 5051/5051B diagnostic machine with step by step instructions.

Found out the other day the old method of going into channel one and adjusting the headlights then saving in channel 2 doesnt work on the Octavia 2. The whle procedure now has to be done in Guided Fault Finding.

Thanks for this. When I spoke to the service guy he seemed to understand it could be done now... but said he wouldnt want to adjust them from the recommended limits!

They are gonna check the headlights now at least though. Whats the betting they dont actually adjust them at all??

You MUST get them to set them to the 'legal limit' or they will still be too low. My dealer did this and I took it back and they redid them. They are superb now!!
