Three Spoke Multi Function Steering Wheel

Featured Replies

Having followed the thread regarding the mod for the 'Off' button for climate control I happened to look back at the original picture in the first post and noticed that the Jetta has a very similar steering wheel to the vRS only that it has function buttons!.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking (I think you are) but it needs some of you boffin types out there to find out whether it will fit and whether you can program VAG-Com to utilise it (I seem to remember when I had cruise fitted that there were several options relating to the steering wheel).

My mates New Leon has these buttons, don't worry Steve, they aren't as good as they look!

Already done a fair bit of reading on this myself. Many of the VW MK5 guys are doing the mod themselves and it involves a new wire on the airbag - no big deal.

Coding is also no big deal but I couldn't vouch for the functionality you'd get from the Audio System.

The bigger issue is the one of the airbag - is it the same size?

Bloody hell chaps, wouldn't see me messing about with airbags. Dealers have to follow strict procedures to ensure there is no residual static around the technician which could detonate the charge.

I know of a bloke who list a finger an a half when a passenger side air bag went off while he was working on it.
