Is anyone currently running a VRS on the Van Aaken smartbox? If so what do you think of it. In particular, do you notice the difference, is there an increase in smoke output, has it caused any other problems. Many thanks.

Don't know if this helps you but I had a Smartbox on my Passat TDi PD (115 bhp increased to 136 bhp) for 2.5 years and 75,000 miles with no problems. I found Van Aaken very helpful and competent. The car smoked a little bit on heavy acceleration (but so does my vRS with the Custom Code 1 remap), otherwise very smooth, progressive power and no real drop in economy in day to day driving. I went for the CC remap option following advice and testimonials on this site - I also wanted the extra bhp and the invisibility over the Van Aaken "box".

Also worth considering boxes from Bromley and Dragon too if you want to go digital
