knocking wheel/suspension

Featured Replies

Hi guys, wonder if any of you guys can help me, i have a knocking in my front suspession, i jacked up the car and noticed a knock on my side to side movement but not top to bottom its only on the right hand side ........ please any ideas

Get an assistant to press the brake pedal firmly, and check again to be sure one way or the other. If the play goes, then the wheel bearing's worn out. If it doesn't, then it's almost certainly one of the ball joint, track rod end or suspension bushes. Can't advise further without actually inspecting the car.

thanks 4 that , im sorry i wasnt more specific, i have a 01 octy 1.9 tdi, with fairly bad knocking noise in suspension, i know its not a wheel bearing, just wondering is it a common problem with 100,000+ml, and what do u think it could be ??????

No probs - knocking from suspension usually seems to be wishbone or ARB bushes; normal recommended cure is Powerflex polyurethane bushes. Contact one of the tuning companies who sponsor the site for further info on them.
