My wife has a superb comfort 1.8t and whilst on a trip to friends today the warning flashed on the car saying to stop the engine because of the oil pressure.......

there is no skoda garage close so she took it into a vw dealers. they have basically quoted about

the first thing to check is to make sure the oil pressure switch wiring harness hasn't become disconnected, it is a sod of a job to get to it though, it's the sensor on the side of the oil filter housing which only has one wire attached to it...... if all is well there then i expect the oil pressure release valve has popped, in which case driving it could cause serious damage to the engine

Tow the car home or to your local indy garage that you trust or dealer should they charge less than the VW place.

Don't drive it if the oil pressure light is on because you risk trashing the engine completely.

thanks teflontom, so a bit of a story but went up to collect the car today and drove nearly 80 miles with no warning light at all. then all of a sudden back on again. there was no change in the engine note and there are no weird sounds....

anyway managed to limp home so will have to find a local dealership on monday to see if they can have a look.......:confused:
