schreeeeching sound?

Featured Replies

Hi ,

today went on a long journey 200 miles, on the way back about 20 into journey my felicia 1.3 mpi started making a few odd sounds the most being a horrible screeching sound, which worsened when going over 50, so I kept it under 50 and at the round about after pulling off it dnoe it again. It sounds like a fanbelt but I cant locate it ?? only belt I can see is the alternator belt.

So on the way back it came and went, absolutely clueless to what it could be..other sounds included a lower tone sound hard to explain. got a long journey to do tommorow so a quick reply would be appreceited

thanks!

I don't know if that engine has a chain, or belt or what, but if the water pump is starting to play up maybe the belt could be slipping over it.

I'm not sure if the water pump is driven by an aux belt or a cam belt or what on that engine however.

anyone know if this could be a wheel bearing?

In my experience wheel bearings rumble rather than screech. The alternator belt you can see also drives the water pump, and the cooling fan is electric hence no fanbelt.
