Cigarette lighter socket not working.. :(

Featured Replies

Is there any valid reason why my cigarette lighter socket may not have power to it sometimes? It's not the fuse (i have blown it before lol, so i know which one it is :) ).

Sometimes it is completely dead, then another day it will work perfectly.

I've heard rumours that it may be linked to the rear window disable switch? But that doesn't seem to be the case with mine as i've tried that on an occasion when it has been working :D

Any suggestions very welcome! (2002 Octy vRS by the way..)

Mines the same (2001 vRS), it only works when it wants too. Maybe just one of those "common faults", like the rear brakes mooing etc

hmm... there must be something in the way between the fusebox and socket, some intermediate connector?

It's not a rumour. It works in conjunction with the rear-window disable switch. Still doesn't solve your problem though :)

is this on particular models or model years? Mine definitely isn't linked to the window disable switch, i made a point of trying whilst it was working one day :)

AFAIK it is standard on the whole Mk1 vRS range (mine was a 2001 model). My lock was replaced at one point though (under warranty) as it failed to lock the rear windows, so it may just be a problematic unit.

I had this problem and thought that it was something other than the rear window switch. I was wrong, mucked around with it on off etc, and low and behold it worked.

Rich, did you ever get this sorted? Mine's off, I've checked the fuse and its still off. Tried with the window switch in both positions and nothing. Skoda dealer said "There are 2 fuses for it" but couldn't tell me what other one (besides the one identified in the handbook) I should check. I'm stuck and facing a European drive without my SatNav....

Well I got it fixed but not really sure how if I'm honest. The fuse was blown initially, but next time it stopped that wasn't the problem, however messing with the fuses mysteriously fixed it and all has been good since, so maybe it was something daft that time like a grubby fuse clip?

Certainly had nothing to do with the window switch.
