strange beep whilst braking

Featured Replies

Due to yet another cd getting stuck in the cd player,i have been driving with no music on in the car

and every now and then when i brake

i hear a strange beeping noise from the engine area

It doesnt happen everytime i brake, more when i brake on the heavy side

does anyone know

what the hell it is

I get this too, i've never questioned it.

yeah

its a bit weird but doesnt seem to affect the braking in any way

ill have to get the cd player sorted...yet again and crank up the music so i cant hear it:thumbup:

beep from engine bay  , is it a beep in like the fuel warning low beep or a mechanical beep due to something rubbing when braking hard .

never had the noise myself and i've done some seriously hard braking on a track day , smoking brakes hard:thumbup:

My brakes used to "beep" even after the 312mm upgrade.

A warning-type "beeeeep!!!" is produced when the brake fluid is low and you use the brakes for the first time. I had it when I had a weeping hose connector on one of my brakes which led to fluid loss.

Maybe your fluid reservoir is low from 'natural causes' i.e. wear on the linings.

do a search on here, it was decided that it was actioning the emergency braking/abs as the beep stayed on until you take your foot off the pedal. nothing to worry about

My car is an 06 plate, which is 6 months old. I doubt it's the brake fluid being low, as there is no warning light. I shall check it anyhow, but i doubt it.

low fluid warning is 3 beeps and 3 flashes of the handbrake light on the dash (providing the handbrake is in the off position)

you can reproduce the 3 beeps by pushing the clear nipple thing on top of the fluid reservoir next to the filler cap

it is quite stiff the first time you press it but it is designed to fool the sensor into thinking the fluid is low

perhaps your fluid was a little low from the factory and under braking the fluid flows forward and triggers the sensor
