Clutch problem (i think)

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks back the clutch pedal stuck to the floor when I tried to pull away. Being in the front of a queue of traffic I levered the pedal up with my foot and it was ok after that. But I have noticed that the biting point is much further up the pedal than before. The clutch itself seems fine (no slipping or burning) but sometimes I have to give it a lot of gas to get it moving on even a slight hill. Any ideas? (I was thinking either a prob with the slave cylinder or the pedal needs adjusting?)

Cheers

another vote for the clutch hydarulics from me! (either the master or slave) or possible a leak at one of the fluid unions somewhere

Cheers for that. Has anyone got any idea how much I would be looking at to get one of these 3 options done at an independent garage (for a 1.4 8v fabia)?

1. New Clutch

2. New Master cylinder

3. New Slave cylinder

iirc you can buy a sachs clutch kit that actually comes with the slave cylinder... it's about 6-7 hours labour to fit that

Thanks for the help. btw, is this an asap job or keep an eye out for burning and/or slipping and then get it done? (at the moment it seems fine, the clutch operates as normal except the higher biting point)
