Yeah, I just seen it. Does make one feel a bit of a plonker :o

This is quite bad like, because if you are behind a bus, you cannot see that there are bollards there, and will get skewerd. Therefore, can you claim against the council for hitting your car (as there was no system in place to prevent the bollard from rising into your car) and causing you and your car some damage! Probably not :finger::mad:

Sorry fella, but that is nonsense. There is a traffic light style system, and nowhere in the world are you allowed to contravene a red light!

I work for Cambridgeshire County Council Highways, we get on average a claim a day for people destroying their car on our bollards - we have never had to pay out.

Ahh, I didnt realise - me being ooop north an all. Up here we dont have these dirty devices, so I didnt know there was lights there. Well, Ive changed my view on the issue, its their own fault for trying to cut a few minutes off their journey! :D

You've not been in the centre of Manchester recently then Mike?! :D

Guess which city the CCTV footage above is from. There's a wealth of warning signs, plus the road narrows as you come upto the bollards. So there's no excuse really.

Steve

I work this area and I can state that there are so many signs and traffic lights at these bollards that I have no sympathy ...... BTW the current score is bollards 9 cars 0

Are these Bollards Automatic or is there a Guy sat in a Control Room having Fun as they go up a bit quick the ones in town here are or were a lot slower and white van man would often tailgate the Bus/Security Van.

That was a while ago now as I think it's all pedestrianised now.

so much for emergency vehicles using bus lanes.

The buses have remotes, or something similar, and there is a control room IIRC. Or there may well be a sensor of some sort on the buses, I suppose...

I believe the emergency services have access as well, so that clears that problem...
