does VAG COM work on Ford Galaxy ?

Featured Replies

as the Galaxy is the same as VAG products Seat Alhambra and VW Sharan , does anybody know whether VAG COM works on the Ford Galaxy , specifically the PD engined versions , for some reason the Ford diagnostic equipment does have some shortcomings when fault finding this vehicle

A quick google showed a couple of pages that might indicate it to be a yes -

VAG-COM for Ford Galaxy 2.3

Ford: Galaxy (1995 to 2006)

Ford dealers unable to work on latest Galaxy 2.8 automatic with the "Tiptronic AG5" gearbox as it is purely VW and they do not have VAG diagnostic equipment.

I think you will find it will work on everything except the Ford engine.

If the car is petrol and later than 2001 it should be EOBD compliant so the OBDII functions in VAG-COM should work.

Diesels did not have to be EOBD compliant until 2003.

So depending on the age of the car you may get engine diagnostics or not.

If it's a "PD" engine, that would make it a VW TDI, so it should work.

To sum all that up...

Unless the Galaxy in question does NOT have a 2.0l or 2.3l gasoline engine, VAG-COM will communicate with all control modules. The Ford engines talk via generic OBD-2, but not to VAG-COM due to hardware limitations.

so to sum up whats been said , if the Galaxy has the VW PD engine in it , i.e. 2000model year on , VAGCOM will communicate with it and access all control modules etc

Correct.
