Rear number plate illumination is by two of 12V 5W festoon bulbs, each protected by a lens with weather seal. One bulb not working and replacement bulb failed to work reliably. Removed rear cover from "5th" door, withdrew bulb holder. Corrosion had eaten metal contact and one connecting wire.

Skoda dealer unable to locate a replacement part. Bulb holder is plastic and can be reused. Metal inserts for bulb contact could restore normal operation if these could be found.

Has anyone been this way before? Is there a solution out there ?

I would suggest that if you can't find such a holder that you visit a breakers yard and aquire one from a broken octy.

After checking the web there is no shortage of bulb suppliers and some of these suppliers offer bulbholder bases. None of these bases will progress a satisfactory repair.

The majority of sites refer to the bulb as a "wedge" (not festoon as in my original thread)
