Where to go for Felicia repairs?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know whether there is any advantage to be had by taking my 3 1/2 year old Felicia to a local garage rather than a Skoda dealer? or even a mobile mechanic?? (or are there any special diagnostics required?) if so can anyone recommend anyone in the Stockport area (Manchester at a pinch, but it's a bit of a pain getting there!, cheers, lorri

I'd say that for a car which is out of warranty it probably is not worth going back to the Skoda dealer every time. Especially in the case of a normal service. Diagnostics might be a different matter though.

Check the Yellow pages for an independant VAG / Skoda garage. My old man used to get his Audi's serviced at a local Indy place, it saved him a fortune :)

It'll give your vehicle a full dealer service history, which will help the car retain it's value if you sell it privately, but not make much difference if selling at a dealer. Other than that, the quality of work will probably be about the same but cost more at the dealer.

In the Stockport area, I'd consider Wayne Connelly Motors - they service Metro's fleet of Octavias, so should be fully equipped to service a Felicia.

It is so similar to the Golf to be easily serviced by any competent garage. Some repairs/faults may involve diagnosing/tweaking with a 1551/1552 so you might find yourself needing to go to a dealer, but some VAG independents will have that bit of kit.

I just purchased a felicia 1300 MPi station wagon, and generally well impressed with the vehicle. The car is very good condition but there is one thing, the sound of the engine is very similar to a diesel engine and do suspect the cam followers.Has any one got any information about this.
