Comfort 1.9SDI Air Con Query

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if my air-con is working properly and at this time of year it's a bit hard to decide based on temperature alone. What I do know is that the front screen, when covered in condensation, seems to take longer to clear than it did - I would always switch on the unit and it would clear in seconds and now takes minutes.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Try cleaning off / replacing your pollen filter and seeing if that makes a difference. You can tell if your air con works by putting it on cold, opening the bonnet and feeling if the inlet pipe to the compressor is cold to the touch (the compressor is the big square silver thing just behind the radiator, and the inlet pipe's the one on the right as you stand in front of the car - mind your fingers on the fans and belts!!!)

If the air con's not working, it might need a re-gas, or it could be the dreaded compressor temp sensor...

(Another plug for me! ;):D )

Also if the temp is less than 4c outside then the compressor is cutout to prevent the system freezing up.

Oh yeah. That too!

Thanks to you both - will follow up on this when I can get time.

If you see the 'ice warning' snowflake and a temperature displayed on the dash , then the aircon will not be on , due to the reason Manny stated , unfortunately that usually means early mornings and evenings , just when you want to demist the car for the journey to/from work!
