I bought a '98 Octavia TDi GLX at the end of July and am very happy with it.

It gives me around 60mpg on my daily commute and is very comfy - once I got used to the driving position (I had a FIAT Punto before).

However, both the rear electric windows have since broken (the little plastic holder thing that connects the glass to the wire) and now both rear windows are held up with bits of timber inside the doors...

I've searched for replacement winder mechanisms, but the cheapest I could find were

Assuming that the motors are OK, the Skoda dealer price for the mechanisms you need should be around that same price but new.
