Two new 4x4's just arrived

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been a member for a couple of months now, as my wife had a Mk2 4x4 1.9TDi. I was so impressed with the car that as soon as the new 2.0TDi 4x4's were announced, I order us one each.

Very happy with my car so far (picked up last Friday), although its very different from my previous car (Alfa GT 1.9 JTDm) I think in most situations it suits me better.

I had a real dilema choosing between the 4x4 and the VRS TDi though. I had to drive them both twice before I could make up my mind. I like the extra performance of the VRS, but after the shockingly bad ride from my Alfa, I decided to go for something a bit softer and with less tyre noise / vibration which in the end was the deciding factor. I also have a sift spot for 4x4 as I used to drive a Subaru Impreza turbo (in the days when the company paid for all my fuel...).

Anyway, details of cars:

Skoda Octavia 4x4 2.0TDi, silver, with Xenons, MFSW, Maxidot, Curtain airbags, TPM, active head restraints, rear parking sensors.

My car also has cruise control, my wifes has the factory fit towbar.

While we had a few small problems with the previous Octavia (BIG water leak that took dealer a week to find, and the parking sensors playing up occassionally) I was much happier with that then the problems I had with my Alfa over the same period, so fingers crossed for a couple of years of trouble free motoring.

Cheers, Neil.

Hi Neil,

Sensible people go for the 4X4 anyway!:D

Puts riot gear on and stands in corner waiting for abuse;)

Regards,

Steve

No need for the riot gear, the discerning driver always knows whats best :D :D

Hiya.

Isn't an Alfa just a Fix It Again Toni in a party frock these days? ;)

:wrthless:

Nice choice, I'm saving up so I can change my 2.0 TDI Elegance for the Octavia Scout model when it's released

Darren

Nice choice in motors.

Hello & Welcome to Briskoda

Hello

Welcome,

I quite fancy one but my VRS number plate would look daft on it....

The engine and gearbox from the diesel is share between Fiat and Alfa, but I couldnt see anything else that didnt look bespoke for the Alfa. The dash was almsot the same between the 147 and the GT, and the GT used the 156 chassis, so there was some inter Alfa sharing going on as well.

You have to admit though, its a very pretty party frock! Which is 90% of the reason that I bought it in the first place.

I was thinking of engine, chassis and suspension, rather than skin and trim parts.

Welcome to Briskoda and I thoroughly approve of your choice of cars! :D
