VW Golf Good Deal ???

Featured Replies

Been offered the following;

Sounds like a good price!...Drivethedeal who are known to have excellent Veedub pricing are about

Didnt they just bring out the Golf Match to replace the SE spec? Maybe its run-out stock of an old model??

I think Motorpoint are doing a Golf GT 2.0 TDi for about £14,500 but I'm too lazy to check. Certainly the price you've been quoted is about what VW are asking for a 9 month old low mileage car.

Maybe off-topic slightly - but its not much car for the money imho, good price or not.

you dont get an awefull lot for your hard earned wedge, especially when you think what other cars can be had brand new for less money

bad deal. it's the old engine. why not get the newer 2.0 TDI?

Can't go for a 2.0TDI due to insurance reasons, otherwise I would be for sure

Spec of the SE seems quite good, cruise control as standard for example. Also residuals appear to be very good on them as well, far better than some rivals.

Sat in a base S model yesterday and it seemed a hell of a lot better equiped than most manufactorers base models

Price also includes mats, mud flaps, dog gaurd, boot liner plus a few other bits and bobs

If you're comfortable with it and are reasonably happy with the price & spec, then go for it.

However, Given that VW have completely restructured their model range, I would personally do a bit of legwork to check the following -

1. Check the new range models

2. Is this one of the runout models. - If so can you get any more off?

Well, I've gone for it - done a bit of shopping around etc... and I think its a bloody good deal - bare in mind this offer is from a VW main dealer not a car supermarket, so no imports or 2 year warrenty only issues.

Meets all my requirments namely, good soild car, big enough for the family and newly aquired hound, enough toys for me, fairly low running costs (group 6 insurance,

Just to confirm the car is brand new... it is being registered on a 56 plate in my name (1st owner) tomorrow ...

Just FYI the On the Road Price of that car in the VW Brouchure is £16,025 or £17,505 if you opted for the DSG box.

Good luck with it John. My mate sometimes drives his Dad's 04 reg Golf - really nice car. Im guessing the newer ones can only be better

Best of luck with the new motor John...cracking cars the Golfs!

Cheers Guys...

Dave - just hope I have better luck than I did with the Saab (still f'in mad about that)

Dmac1969 - its not DSG, just 5 speed manual

Chris - similar views, at the end of the day I thought its pretty hard to go wrong with a Golf... I still see 6-8 year old MkIV's about and they look pretty decent cars, not really that dated at all
