Ibiza FR.. wow

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

just thought of sharin this with you n see what you guys think...

had a visit to the Seat Dealer, and they had the new Ibiza FR (1.8T 150 BHP?), anyways i asked for a test drive and they gave me the car that was in the showroom to try..

what an amazing little rocket.. the torque is just awesome in this car, around 3k revs you can feel the hard acceleration when your feet just touches the padle, the clutch is really nice and smooth, i got wheel spin at second gear with traction control ON, i was doing 20 km/h on Second gear and floored it and it pulled out really fast, few seconds and its up to around 160 Km/h on fourth gear, turn the traction control off and floor it on first and the amount of wheen spin is huge for a little car.. the interior is not the best thing about it though, I love the gear changes of this car, everytime you change gear you can feel the acceleration jus pulling you back, i love the way the traction control cuts the power its very smoothly cut unlike in the fabia its scary when the traction control cuts the power..

I know it takes 8.4 seconds to reah 100 Km/h, but it does feel so much faster than just 8.4 seconds.. I cant think of anything better for the same price and fun..

What do you guys think of this car?

That engine should be in the Fabia!! ;).......Its a nice enough car but I don't particularly like the front end of the new Ibiza , especially the shape of the grille , it puts me off TBH. Also , judgine by the pic , SEAT have saved a few pennies and left the door mirrors black instead of colour coding them , which is just plain mean!

I'll get slated for such a ridiculous suggestion but wif you like torquey engines why not look at the Diesel FR\Cupra or even a Furby vRS?

I cant think of anything better for the same price and fun..

Clio 182 (Cup)? :D

Well i like torquey engines, but i like the torque to come from a Petrol engine :P

umm, the front end of the one i drove looked really good, it had the mirrors color coded in silver and the inside of the headlights os color coded with the same body color which looked really good

That sounds better! I think it would look nice in Black.

Umm, ok thats one car havent thought about, but its a bit more expensove than the FR, but it does have much more power though..

Im not gettin anything at the moment i'll keep my 1.4 16V fabia:D

Car pictured is actually the Cupra, FR's have silver mirrors, and Cupras have Black painted ones. Don't ask me why, they are painted, just not too match the body colour!

I want those wheels for mine!

But you can keep that petrol engine, thanks ;)

Steve

Yeah, would only have the Diesel Cupra

Didn't they drop the watered down 150 bhp 1.8T in to the new Polo GTI?

Nice wheels though ,as mentioned

Yes it's the same 1.8T (150) that's in the Polo GTi, the Mk IV Golf GTi and the bottom spec Audi TT.

In terms of getting so much fast car for your money though, it doesn't beat the old Octavia Mk I vRS !

Remaps up to the same 218bhp(ish) as the VRS engine though ;)

Thought the Mk4 Golf GTi was 180bhp - was that just the anniversary edition?

That is true. But the same engine is also in the MKI Octavia Elegance 4x4 and mapped at 150bhp.

the ibiza'a don't have quite the same potential as the 1.8T's in the leon/octavia/golf etc for some reason. i think 200bhp is about the limit for a remap on them.

You can get a 150bhp and a 180bhp version in the golf. It isn't just the anniversary model that has the 180bhp though.

Seat Ibiza FR 1.8 20VT has 150PS

and the Cupra 1.8 20VT has 180PS
