Estate rear number plate lights - bulb replacement

Featured Replies

I've just tried to replace a broken bulb above my rear number plate. The old one came out okay but when I tried to push the new one in the lamp holder disappeared back up into the boot lid. I can tease it back out again (at least some of the way) with a screw driver (with the lights off!) but I can't get the new bulb into it. Any ideas?!

Exactly the same thing happens on Octavia I, on these I find that the only way is to remove the interior panel which first means removing the horizontal upper trim and pulling away the side trims as the main panel can be very tight. Not ever having done this to an Octavia II, I would suspect it to be along similar lines.

Oh, err... actually I think I may have an Octavia I. Sorry, my mistake! I wasn't quite sure what "New" meant. Mine's a 2001 model.

Sounds like a bit of a daft design to me. :finger:

Hi, I had the same problem with the lampholder. I managed to sort it by pulling the holder out further than normal (with pliers) and the dropping a small blob of super glue on the holder and pushing it back into place. Allow to cure and then fit new bulb.
