I've been keeping a close eye on the oil level on my 2.0tdi, but I find it quite hard to read the level on this new style dipstick. To add to this, the oil seems very clean for diesel engine oil at 900 miles, in my furby it'd be jet black, but this stuff seems to be only slightly tainted with black. Is that normal?:confused:

Yes while the engine is tight. It'll loosen up with a couple of k on it, and it will be black as you expect.

know what you mean about reading the dipstick being tricky, mine seems to have a coating of oil all the way up it... I eventually managed to make out the line and had to top up with 1/2 a litre.
