Broken Glovebox

Featured Replies

To make matters worse, I think I have also broken the handle as it is incredibly loose.

Does anyone know a way to get into the glovebox without physically damaging the thing? I'd rather just replace the door than breaking any hinges/catches that are still in good condition.

Cheers

I have a feeling the door isn't available seperately or is very expensive, I've looked it up before.

You're joking? I'll have a word tomorrow with the garage I deal with to see if he can source the part.

In the meantime, can it be opened without using the handle? I have a few items in there which I'd rather remove.

Well, to remove the box, you need to undo three bolts from inside the door, which is a bit ironic for you.... :( If you find you do need to get a whole new one, you might as well cut a hole in the door with a saw to retrieve your belongings. :)

Haven't had to quite cut a hole, but yes. The three screws inside definatly do not help :P

Just make sure you get the right part for your car - get the dealer to check the number.

Having just seen the above... my catch has also broken... does anyone know if you can still get the glovebox door/lid in the old light grey trim colour, for a May 2000 Fabia Comfort??

I'd have thought a scrappy would be a good place to look for such replacement parts, especially if you are worried about the colour matching as you'd essentially be getting a pre-faded item!
