Question, re: RamAir

Featured Replies

Do RamAir make decent stuff? Anyone ever used any of the gear they manufacture?

Just looking at http://www.ramair-filters.com and it seems that they list an induction kit for "SKODA Fabia 1,4i 16V 74KW 09/99-" which would appear to be my model...

Any thoughts?

Didn't RAMAir used to supply the Scooby WRC team? Anyway their induction kits got good write up.....uses an induction turmpet for better flow as opposed to the K&N kits which have a square cross section inlet. I think they also used foam filters.

As an alternative check out the Group Buy section.....Green Filter replacement....errr....filter.

I've never used a RamAir induction kit but have used breather filters from them in the past and know of people that have used RamAir filters on numberous cars.

They are foam filters and use a dirt retention oil, i'd say (from experience) that foam filters are better than cotton gause due to the density of the construction but both can cause problems with air flow sensors etc due to small amounts of the oil getting through the filter and dirtying things up.

The best filter i have ever used was a stainless steel woven mesh cone shaped induction kit, this was a dry filter that held much more fine grain dirt out than the others and was easy to clean, due to it being dry you didnt have any of the problems cause by the oils needed for the other styles.

I dont think there is a stainless filter for any of the skodas, but a company called Quickshift Racing so alot of universal units and would more than likely be up for making an adaptor for the Skoda's we have. Unless they have a common intake neck diameter.

Unless they have a common intake neck diameter.

Do they do one for the Golf Mk4?

Rob.

dunno matey, i only ever sorted one out for the 19 16v i had at the time.

Other thing i liked about the stainless filter, the sound was different to any of the others, kinda whistled at low revs or idle then roard to about 5K rpm then sort of did both to 7K rpm.

Yeah, can imagine the induction noise would be interesting! Was just going to say, a lot of companies make induction kits for the Golf 4 which is much the same fitment as the Octy...

Rob.

Ram-Air filters are used by a lot of the people I know in the big 'Cossie' tuning world. The quality always seems to be good.
